McLauchlan Surveying

(Tweed Heads)

The McLauchlan Surveying offices are located in Tweed Heads, NSW. The office services areas in Tweed, Gold Coast, Brisbane.

In 1979 Basil McLauchlan and Geoff Wiggan began consultant survey work from home.  An office was opened in Wharf Street Tweed Heads in 1981, operating as B.J. McLauchlan and Associates, with two staff being engaged.  By 1988 at the same premises, a total of nine staff were involved with many facets of surveying, rural subdivision, residential estates, unit strata developments, civil works set out, hydrographic surveying, etc.  This number increased to eleven in 1992.

Through the nineties, the large residential estates of Banora Gardens, Glen Ayr, and Banora Waters occupied much of the professional time, as well of course the diverse other duties.  An unusual task was controlling the finished surface of the new indoor bowls facility at Tweed Heads Bowls Club to a tolerance of + or – one millimeter.  This surface is acknowledged as the best indoor surface in the world. Staff numbers remained fairly static over the years and included professional surveyors, registered in NSW and QLD, technical assistants, plan generating personnel, and admin/clerical.

The business became a company in 1996 with the foundation members being directors and operating as McLauchlan Surveying Pty. Ltd.

In 2002 the business was purchased by Landsurv Pty Ltd and all staff were retained.  The company has grown by employing some casual staff as full-time employees over the last three years.  The company has always been focused on serving all of the public, no matter how small or large the job may be.

The company is presently linked by directorship to other survey offices in Tweed and Sydney and Ipswich.

McLauchlan Surveying is a registered survey consultancy that currently has a staff of 10 and is located at 14 Enid Street, Tweed Heads providing professional survey services to the land development, construction, and mining industries in NSW & Queensland.

In 2006 we moved to larger premises which are more centrally located at Tweed Heads.  The new building gives us room to grow, has a conference room and superior filing accommodation central to all users.   Field staff generally use the lower level for ease of access to equipment and vehicles and office staff are able to carry out their duties upstairs in relative quietness.  Our new client reception area is modern and provides refreshment facilities.

McLauchlan Surveying has invested in additional state-of-the-art Robotic Electronic Total Station theodolites and GPS receivers to enable the ultimate performance and efficiency of operation for our clients, and to keep up with industry standards.

McLauchlan Surveying resources within the Tweed now enable it to provide suitably qualified survey personnel sufficient to ensure on-time completion of works no matter what the size of the project in the northern NSW and South East Queensland.

McLauchlan Surveying has the established facilities of one of the oldest survey businesses in the Tweed and Gold Coast areas. Brown & Haan which was established in 1951.

With the implementation of Quality Assurance, a further strengthening of our Company’s position within the industry will be achieved, whilst further enhancing the cost-effective delivery of our services.

McLauchlan Surveying links with our other offices give it the ability to call upon additional GPS (Global Positioning Systems) and Robotic Theodolites, when necessary to ensure that our service is on time and within budget. The business uses state-of-the-art equipment where necessary to assist in its operations and ensure that clients get value for money. Our quality of service is assured by our extensive use of checklists for each operation.

Our staff offers a broad range of expertise in Surveying in a very friendly manner and we pride ourselves on prompt service and our ability to meet client deadlines.

Green Geomatic Group

Barrie Green and Associates had its beginnings in 1974 when Barrie Green became registered and established a private practice in Dural and was involved in large subdivisions in the Hunter Valley and Forster areas until a credit squeeze affected the operations of the business.  Barrie Green began working for the Department of Main Roads and after spending time in the Goulburn and Southern areas of the state returned to a Dural base in 1979.

The private practice was continued in the area on a part-time basis.  Whilst Barrie was rapidly promoted within the Department of Main Roads to the manager of the Survey Control Group and the Senior Surveyor in the Road Design Section, until his resignation in 1991.  Barrie Green then devote his full-time efforts to the Dural Office and broadened his expertise to both assisting developers and also developing land himself, where some 120 lots were developed in Sydney, Central Coast, and Blue Mountains areas.

Green Geomatic Group Pty Ltd incorporating Barrie Green and Associates grew to a point that required it to establish a specialized division for high-rise building construction in the Sydney CBD and other areas in 2000, driven in part by the construction required for the Sydney Olympics.

In 2001 after successfully establishing an office in Five Dock for the high-rise sector of the business a decision was made to expand to Northern NSW and in order to facilitate this Brown and Haan surveying at Murwillumbah was purchased and became a satellite office of Green Geomatic Group. Brown and Haan’s surveying was established in 1951.

In 2002 an expansion of the northern sector of the business was undertaken with the purchase of McLauchlan Surveying in Tweed Heads, which is a business that began in 1974.  After the purchase of this business, it was decided to create separate companies which ran the Northern and Southern business and to establish a third company that ran the High-Rise sector of the business as there were now some 25 surveyors employed and an overall staff of 45.  The companies Landsurv Pty Ltd and Stratasurv Pty Ltd were created.

In 2006 the High-Rise sector of the business was further expanded after the purchase of McElwee and Associates at Newcastle by Strata Serv Pty Ltd.  Green Geomatic Group which now employs six surveyors and a total staff of 10 with state-of-the-art Robotic Theodolites and GPS Survey equipment services the whole of the Sydney area and eastern seaboard from Newcastle to Wollongong from its centrally located office at Dural.

Brown and Haan

Brown & Haan Surveying was purchased by Green Geomatic Group Pty Ltd in 2001 to expand its Sydney operations to Northern New South Wales.

Brown and Haan were established in 1951 by Quentin Saunders and subsequently became Brown and Haan in 1982.

Brown and Haan have had substantial involvement in the development of the Tweed and Gold Coast areas for 60 years.

Green Geomatic Group improved the equipment and resources of the business and retained staff to ensure local knowledge was held and with the addition of a second office being McLauchlan Surveying Tweed Heads the combined resources of staff and equipment enabled the new company Landsurv Pty Ltd to be one of the largest established survey consultancies in the Tweed and Gold Coast Areas.

Currently Brown and Haan concentrate their superior survey services in the area from Ballina, Lismore, and Tweed Shires with assistance from time to time in the Goad Coast area.

The business has extensive experience and ability in the development of rural areas in difficult terrain and vegetation as well as the coastal urban development areas of Northern NSW.

The Ipswich office of Landsurv was established to overcome the expense and difficulties of servicing the requirements of the workload within Ipswich in 2009.

The Ipswich Office has primarily serviced the needs of the development of the Amberley Air Base upgrade which has involved servicing the needs of up to 20 contractors.

The office has employed up to seven surveyors with the administration via our Tweed Heads Office.

The office uses the latest in Robotic Theodolites and GPS equipment to ensure the delivery of an efficient and cost-effective service to our many clients.
